Homework is our home-school connection. It is an opportunity for you to see what we are working on in school and how your child is doing in class. All work that goes home is PRACTICE...we've already done it in school. Here are some suggestions to help make your child's homework more successful. 1. Find a spot in your home were your child will be able to do their work. It should be a quiet area that is close to adult supervision. It should be well lit, with space to store the supplies that will be needed to complete their homework. 2. It is your responsibility to be available to your child for help...listening to them read, practicing spelling words and math facts, writing sentences, etc. Please make sure that your child practices proper letter formation when doing their work. 3. Please check their work. IF your child has made mistakes, please help them to correct the mistakes. Please initial your child's homework when completed. 4. Please help your child practice the organizational skills that we are developing in the classroom. The left side of their homework folder is reserved for assignments that are yet to be completed. The right side of the folder is for homework that is completed and ready to be turned in the next morning. It will be your child's responsibility to turn their homework in each morning. If your child comes home with their completed homework still in their folder, remind them to turn it in the very next day. |
